Valentine's Day Wedding Tips & Ideas

To contact us Click HERE
Valentine's Day is popular day to get married. And why not? A day already filled with love and romance is the perfect time to start the rest of your lives together. If you're looking for ways to plan a Valentine's Day wedding while keeping the event fun and fresh and not too cliche, we've got some great wedding planning tips for you!

Use Red or Pink as an Accent Color

Instead of using red and pink together as your main color, try black and white with small accents of either red or pink for your attire and wedding decor. Overdoing it on the red and pink can look kitschy and old fashioned. If you're look for a modern classic, try grey, white and burgundy or grey, white, and petal pink.

Use Floral Centerpieces

Valentine's Day and flowers go hand-in-hand. For your centerpieces, try a floral arrangement or even a single flower in a crystal vase. Roses are classic, but stargazer lilies and daisies are also great choices. It al depends on the mood you want to set for your reception.

Avoid Using Too Many Hearts

Yes, it's a Valentine's Day wedding, but that doesn't mean you have to bombard your guests with hearts galore. For something more subtle try heart necklaces for the bridesmaids, wedding favors (like our Pinwhirls made with Heart Day Papers) with a heart-shaped pattern, or a single heart on the place cards. Just avoid the temptation to put them everywhere.

Use Valentines for Invitations or Place Cards

We love the idea of invitations and place cards that look like retro Valentine's Day cards. Depending on your personal preferences, you may want to choose something lacy and Victorian. Or if your style is more casual and fun, bring back your Valentine's Day cards from when you were a kid with well-known characters and gobs of bright colors.

Give Away Sweet Wedding Favors

Homemade conversations hearts, Godiva chocolates, sachets of personalized M&Ms. There are lots of different ways to sweeten up your guests' wedding favors.

6 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day as a Family

To contact us Click HERE
Because St. Patrick's Day is coming up next weekend, we wanted to give you some family friendly ideas for celebrating on March 17. Because let's face it: green beer and pub crawls just aren't for everyone.
  1. Wear Green: This should go without saying. However, if green doesn't make regular appearances in your wardrobe, finding the right outfit might require some planning. Fun printed Tees are always a favorite. But if you don't feel like buying a shirt you can only wear once a year, there are plenty of options. Go for some fun (and cheap!) plastic shamrock sunglasses, an emerald cardigan, or go for the mismatch with some bold green socks.

  2. Make Green Treats: Shamrock shakes are always a hit, but you can make most anything green with a few drops of food coloring. Try green cupcakes, frosting, cream cheese, milk, and even mashed potatoes!

  3. Irish Cupcakes: Nigella's Guinness cake (can be make into cupcakes) makes a great dessert for St. Patrick's Day. Although it's made with a little bit of beer, the cake is moist, sweet, and very chocolatey. We highly recommend it.

  4. Irish Decor: Drop some Lucky Charms on a green tablecloth or fill a large pot with gold foil covered chocolate coins and set the pot at the end of your own rainbow. You can make the rainbow by hanging streamers from a door frame in color order or drawing one with sidewalk chalk if you plan to party outdoors. You can also search all Pinwhirls papers tagged "green" in our Flickr gallery!

  5. Make a Replica Blarney Stone: The Blarney Stone resides at Blarney Castle in Ireland, and according to old legends kissing the stone will give you the gift of eloquent speech. If you've got a large landscaping stone--perfect! If not, you can always create one out of papier-mâché, poster board or styrofoam.

  6. Serve Corned Beef and Cabbage: Corned beef and cabbage is a favorite on St. Patrick's Day. Foodnetwork.com has a great recipe compilation for making this Irish dish inventive. There are even recipes for corned beef and cabbage rolls and pizza. Yum!

How do you plan to celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

Slumber Party Tips

To contact us Click HERE

So your daughter wants to have a slumber party for her next birthday. Now what?

If you're going to host a slumber party, you might be a little anxious--but never fear! There are a few things that will help you get through the night unscathed. Here's what to do:

Set a Guest Limit and Stick to It

Your best bet is to keep the guest list to eight or fewer. You might need to whittle the list down to six or less if space is limited in your home. Remember: all those sleeping bags are going to have to fit somewhere! Send out your invitations and include a contact information sheet with your RSVP. Everyone will feel better knowing that parents can be easily reached -- just in case.

Set Arrival and Departure Times

Make it clear when the party starts and ends, and ask parents to bring the children after they've had an evening meal. You'll likely be serving cake or other treats, but preparing dinner for an army of your child's friends might be a little too much to ask--especially with all the party decorating and planning you'll have to do. Keep breakfast the next morning simple with individual serving cereal boxes, fruits, and a choice of water, juice or milk. It's a good idea to ask parents to pick their children up by noon.

Schedule Activities

Whether you play birthday games, outdoor games, or do movies and popcorn, it's a good idea to give structure to the evening for the kids. Let them know what they can expect, and you'll help calm any worries or anxiety that first-time sleepover guests will have about being away from home overnight.

Set a Bed Time

A half-hour before it's time for bed, dim the lights and start a quiet time for the partygoers to wind down. Some of the children will probably be a little chatty, even after lights out, but you shouldn't have any reason to stress about it. It is a party after all.

you know...when it rains..it pours..for example: the day my water heater went out (like i found a mini swimming pool in my laundry room (luckily i rent...so no harm to me..)
except when i went to move all my craft crap out of the way and dropped my gallon of kitchen paint on the floor (i had already used it so it was half gone luckily) i literally got my hands in and scooped it up as FAST as possible..

and when it was all cleaned up...
i looked down and found...
paint pants. on my most favoritest yoga pants.

and no i don't do yoga. limber kimber became a nickname more for the reason that it rhymed than anything else.

but i did go to the gym in them...and they were awesome and didn't shrink into high waters when washed..and they made my bum look bumalicious. (old navy)

so i was bummed (Not licious...just bummed)

AND I thought to myself. be resourceful....

so i grabbed my freezer paper.

and got on my cameo...and made a stencil and fancied them up a bit...

(let me tell you how bad i wanted to put agaagg down the side...SO BAD) but i didn't want to be vain...and i didn't want to get stopped by people at the gym asking what the crap agaagg was...to which i would reply, "the sound i make when i throw up after i work out to hard at the gym)
ironed it on(break: if you have never tried freezer paper stencil...you are missing out. its easy..and super fun....kids would love it.you just take freezer paper...cut out a design (free hand if you want) and iron it shiny side down on the chosen article of clothing. then iron makes it stick...basically like a big sticker. you paint in your design and then peel off the paper when done!)
i used tulip fabric paint....it's the best..it will make it feel unstiff

mixed it with white and went to town...i wanted it a bit distressed so it's darker in some and lighter in some...then i splattered it with more blue paint (to match the already splattered marks)

then i added pink

i then decided to add some little splash of color on the other leg
and now i can go back to the gym without looking like i dropped some blue crap on my leg!!!!!
so if you drop some paint on some clothes...don't throw them out! just upcycle them!
